I mean, why on earth would an ambulance attend a person who's seriously injured because they exercised their right to be comfortable when the ambulance could be attending someone who actually took some responsibility for his own safety and considers the well-being of the community at large.

What happens in the future is anyone's guess, but the mostly likely outcome is that nothing happens. The next most likely is that something modest happens. Etc. Many of the eventualities will require continued development; you're the first choice and you'll have the upper hand.
Skype is demonstrably worse on Linux. Aside from it's tendency to lock up, its support for conference calls is wrong; for example, if you're in a call, and call out to a phone number it offers to add the new call to the conference after you've made the request.
