Do you think it's possible to build an immediate UI wrapper on top of Win32 and Cocoa?

I'm trying to solve this right now with eul[0]. It's not an easy task.

Looking forward to OTR for XMPP :)

> Too bad most email clients have removed plain text rendering these days. I also haven't found a good mobile plain text email client yet.

eul [1] only has plain text rendering. It only supports Gmail right now, but a full-fledged email client is coming soon. A mobile app will be released in early 2018.

Sounds interesting. It looks like a one man show though. Is it open source/free software?

There's a new native desktop app for Slack, Skype, WhatsApp, etc:

https://eul.im/slack

It's only 4 MB and can handle tens of thousands of messages in one chat without lag.

I would use it but I am afraid that it might steal my accounts. I would feel safer paying for it and I would gladly do that.

Now, it just feels like the creator can simply steal my accounts without my knowledge. Windows 10 warns me about the app as well, perhaps because it is not from the Store?

I don't really care about size of the application, I just want it to not consume a crazy amount of memory.

You are right to be cautious.

Like the home page says, the binaries are not signed yet, that's why Windows is complaining. Documents are being verified right now, getting a code signing certificate is a slow process unfortunately.

There will be a paid option soon. The app sends nothing to the server, only error reports.

eul uses 5x less RAM on average.

The more services the better. But not right now.

Hi,

eul is a very lightweight and fast native desktop client for Skype, Slack, Gmail, HipChat, VK, Facebook, Jabber, Telegram, and Signal. Right now only the first four are supported, and the rest should be done by the end of September.

Why did I create this? To solve two big problems I see with the current IM solutions: there are too many of them, and the clients are ridiculously bloated for what they are built to do. For example, everyone knows what a huge resource hog the Skype client is. Even the Telegram client, which is supposed to be lightweight, is using 1.3 GB of RAM on my desktop right now.

I'm obsessed with performance. The entire application is about 4 MB, and it's never going to be more than 10 MB. In fact there are still many things to optimize. It's native, so you don't need to download a 100 MB browser just to use your IM client. eul can display thousands of messages in one conversation without the constant page fetching. The scrolling is instant and smooth. You can jump to any message without waiting. I've tested it with 50 000 messages in one chat. No lags, instant scrolling to any point, instant search. That should be enough for most :)

This is a beta release. Some essential features are still missing (for example, images and other attachments are not supported yet). Automatic updates will be released every day. There's a built in contact form, please use it to submit bugs and suggestions.

Looking forward to your feedback.

Thanks

Speaking of the bloated slack client, there's a new native desktop app for Slack, Skype, and many others:

It's only 4 MB and uses ~100 MB RAM.

Wait, how are you doing Skype?

Kamelåse så fedt. Sykelkugle!

Do you know who's behind the project?

I am :)

Right now I'm working on setting up the company.

In about 6 hours.

Yeah, I know about this. The fix will be live soon. It's not a virus, nothing is being sent anywhere. It's just poor implementation from my part.

You are right. You can't even copy text right now. These little UI things will gradually be implemented very soon.

Are you a member of multiple Slack orgs?
