I tried this about a year ago. It works pretty well. It's not a complete substitute for a great cut of steak but it's a good way to save money on meat.

This is my band: http://www.themintchicks.com/

We're pretty successful in my home country of New Zealand. We've won awards and had a gold record. We're now based in Portland, OR and getting a little bit happening there.

We use Pro-tools mostly, with some Logic for it's bank of sounds and I made the video on that homepage with Toonboom, Photoshop and Motion.

So basically this guy has come face to face with the world his generation built for my generation? With 2 or 3 years and that much free time he'd better start thinking like people like me if he wants to survive. Somewhere there is a very tiny violin playing a sad tune. He'll get no sympathy from the people making hay with the kind of money and time he has on his hands.

I'm not even a programmer but I come on here every day because when the submissions are relevant to my interests they're very good quality.

I'm a little bit tired of how many blogs out there are trying to grab my attention with blustery 'ground breaking' opinions about how the iphone is actually crap or how Twitter doesn't work or how customers don't care about anything or won't pay for anything or will pay for things or how any other number of attention getting subjects that waste my time and leave me cold. I've got a ground breaking opinion I want to share with tech and marketing bloggers: If you've got nothing of substance to say, please don't post anything this week. It takes me half the article to realize you're full of hot air and there isn't enough time in the day.

I agree. I think that it's more a question of naivete. I always remember the saying 'Never get the memo' which means that when someone works hard and thinks carefully, but ignores the received knowledge about how things are done, it can sometimes give them an advantage over the majority who can anticipate each others motives and intentions due to certain codified or unspoken rules. Unorthodox approaches are underestimated at one's peril.

Yeah who knows how much damage has been done to pop music by people who can actually operate the various machines and instruments needed to create it. Because if there's one thing that pop music is lacking these days it's a general feeling of vapid, amateurish, imposterism. Because every time I hear an autotune on a vocal or see American Idol playing on the tv I thank god that I'm not having to experience the music of nerdy dullards like Led Zeppelin or Aretha Franklin. Oh wait, that's the exact opposite of my opinion.

Trends in IT for 2009:

1. AIR

Many companies are finding that their clients are interacting in a dynamic way with air, including breathing and moving through it, expect this exciting trend to continue through '09.

2. MONITORS

From advertising to socializing, there are many online communities finding ways of analyzing data and experiencing graphic interfaces by using graphics and text displayed on a monitor. With more text and images on the web than ever before, don't expect monitors to be going anywhere in the new year.

TRENDS!
