I recall a time when github was having an outage at the same time me and a coworker were trying to fix a high priority issue. I had pushed my changes before the outage but he couldn't pull them. I proposed that I share my repo locally so he could pull from me, but he looked confused and didn't get it, so I let it drop.

Make them request it. Put a link to it on every page served from your site, in the footer or sidebar. Make the text or icon for the link invisible to humans by making the text color the same as the background and use the smallest point size you can reasonably support.

What little money they get they immediately give back. Inmates are charged anywhere from $0.06 to $0.25 per minute for phone calls. Every time you look up something on StackOverflow, refer to the API docs, or refer back to the ticket, use case, or requirements document, make a note of your question and the answer. Even when you stop typing to take a break for a moment, or after pushing code while you wait for the ci/cd pipeline, note down where you are and your last action or change.

Every time you start to write a TODO comment, make a note instead, or also.

Consider Kent’s Beck’s recommendation to write down every decision you make.

Making note of your question AND answer sounds like an excellent way to both remember and cut down on tabs.

This is missing a setting for the kind of light falling on the subject. Is it full open sunlight? Open shade? Overcast? Sidelight? Backlight?

It all matters.

This poem must have been a major inspiration for a character named The Thunderhead in the Arc of a Scythe sci-fi series.

The poem reads like the private confessions of that character, which made it feel modern to me, but wow it’s actually many centuries old.
