Bitcoin will become a sentimental Gold while a more robust, efficient protocol such as Ripple will become cash

If the founder is strong enough, it should not matter IMO.

I would say that the bar for "strong enough" is higher for single founders.

The biggest thing is that you have to be a very, very strong self-starter. One of the things a partnership gives you is socially constructed motivation. A single founder has to be able to self-motivate to a degree that most human beings cannot.

guy I hate to say it - but is is either school or other talents. you can't half ass both and get away with it. it is either C student and entrepreneur-facilitating, marketable outside talents or A student and no-little outside talents. B student and mediocre outside talents will lead to mediocracy and failure. so decide which you want to encourage. i would go for outside talents but you better make damn sure your son has the right tutor, influences, and environment to hone his natural inclinations outside the traditional academic system.

23andme is babyish relative to what's coming. Even exome sequencing does not provide the whole story. There are so many conditionals, so many sequences important in regulation, so much of the "dark" genome that actually codes for RNA. Sure, some SNPs are highly predictive, but there are compensatory mutations and regulatory gene circuits. Everything works together and must be weighed together. Even with whole genome we still need epigenetics and we need time-lapse data and sampled location specific (cell and organ system) genomic data to really produce clinically relevant predictions.

Interpretation is an indefinite field - statisticians and econometricians will be highly valued.

We hope as more data becomes available, the field will become more and more definite. We will use indefinite mathematics in genomic interpretation until we have near perfect information.

I can't find the reference but micro-RNA as short as two base pairs has been shown to affect gene expression. Nonlinearity may seriously inhibit meaningful analysis.

The cost comes from the continuous washing and waves of nucleotide additions (reagent costs). Illumina's technology suffers the same difficulty. The promise of PacBio's technology is that it does not require this continuous washing and staggering of nucleotide additions (unfortunately PacBio was not able to translate its technology to high-throughput high-accuracy or manufacture properly its version of "chips" [SMRT cells] for Single Molecule Real-time Sequencing). I'm afraid the cost will not come down significantly for iontorrent or illumina without a fundamental improvement in reagent utilization techniques or reduction in reagent costs.

I agree PacBio doesn't have the high-throughput of Illumina or similar amplification approaches yet, but from last month's AGBT conference papers it's clear that it's now more accurate than other systems with typical coverage (no bias, covers repeats, Q50-60, etc.)

I'll tell you what, we had a bike sharing program over at Davidson College, by the end of each semester those bikes were unridable. Be prepared for some heavy maintenance fees and liability issues.

Thanks for the feedback. We've actually been operating our largest program for over a year now. Also, many new, specialized bicycles designed for bikeshare use now exist. We definitely don't want to use $100 Walmart bikes. We make sure the bicycles are up to certain standards for durability and rider comfort, and perform regular and as-needed maintenance.

Bullshit.

Unfortunately, "Troll" has turned into a political term to prevent "undesirables" the government or society does not want to fund from starting businesses from the "Trolls" intellectual property which the "Troll" spent years of his or her life developing.

By classifying people we do not like (mannerisms, personality, misfits) as trolls, we can practice socialism and transfer their ideas and intellectual property to people we like better, people who have nicer smiles.

The socialists insist that everyone has a label, a "place in life" and will transfer the "Troll's" ideas and intellectual property to people who are better politically and socially well positioned. This is a ploy that will ruin our society.

People have to understand this is a career for many. Inventors spend months even years developing their ideas into inventions. We need strong IP in this country. Obama has forsaken us and has used false logic that non-inventors can get behind to destroy the incentive system for innovation in this country. He is taking baby steps, warming us up to pure socialism. Without strong IP, the United States of America will crumble and Obama will get his way - utter destruction of the potential for greatness we all strive for. Obama does not have the capacity to invent and does not understand invention. Use empathy and realize how important our inventors are and how important IP is to the future of this nation. IP is all that sets us apart from Greece.

The founding fathers built an incentive-infallible system. Is Obama smarter than Madison? Is Obama smarter than Benjamin Franklin? What are his true intentions? Strong IP law made this country great. Strong IP law is vital in the information age and vital to the superior positioning of this great nation. Strong IP will be the driving force which will save humanity from extinction events. Keep IP strong. Keep America strong.

Where did the "socialist" and "place in life" enter this discussion?

This article is not genius - it is nonsense. There is no one "genetic code" for genius - this is polygenic. IQs measured by the stanford-binet or wechsler are actually variable - one can work to bring these scores up dramatically - they are completely game-abale. Furthermore there are many types of intelligence, people with high general intelligences can consciously hone specialty intelligences. Or, people with low general intelligences may possess high specific intelligences. This depends on the structure of the brain from macro to a micro perspectives. Also, intangibles govern the way we interact and as the environment changes around us, as we near a "singularity," "intelligences" we value today may not be the same "intelligences" we value tomorrow. The definition of intelligence will change over time. This article is nonsensical and loserish.

Citation needed for the claim that IQ tests are highly game-able. And nobody denies that there are different types of mental abiltiy, so I'm not sure who or what you are trying to argue against.

This is stupid. The whole is not simply a sum of its parts in cake baking and biology.
