This is so good! Have you done something with the sound as well? I swear that also sounds very 'cable-y' somehow but can't really describe it. Or maybe it's just one of those mind games induced by those CRT lines...

I thought that's how airlines do the whole trickery around having different pricing if you access the site from Windows or Mac...

Something I heard from an analyst online (can't find source unfortunately) said that China has a 90 day supply for gas, whereas it's 10 days for Taiwan. Not sure this applies to all fuel types, but it may give an indication of the buffer that some of these major Asian countries are working with.

And its worth pointing out that China recently stocked up their strategic oil reserves to a significant degree. They would be the very tipping top high end of reserves.

I was in a similar place a few years ago. I'll just list what worked for me, so it's not assuming you don't do any of this currently.

But firstly, know that things will get better over time. You need time to get through all the emotions, the new environment, the new way of life. I didn't know it at the time, but looking back at it, I wish I had this on my mind each day to just eke out any bit of positivity I could.

But the five main things I changed in my life to get me to feel better: 1. Lift weights. I didn't necessarily go to a gym, so there was no additional social aspect from this, so doing so would probably help. But I bought some gym gear and worked out at home religiously. Had a plan, tracked it on a spreadsheet, and measured and reviewed progress every two weeks. Really helped with the confidence, and there's a lot of research that shows exercise is good for mood and depression.

2. Walk everyday - ideally outside in the sun. I got up early, went for a walk so that I caught the sunrise during it. This was probably one of the biggest changes I made that improved my mood and wellbeing, that I continue to do it religiously today.

3. Learn a new skill. For me that was 3d modelling. Just having something new to do, and tracking progress, really helped with my self confidence. Though if you're not in the habit of lifting, you could combine this and [1] if you're learning to lift.

4. Changed my diet. This was a natural change from lifting. Eating whole foods, and reduced the junk (still enjoyed some pizza/fried chicken on weekends), but otherwise it was healthy foods during the week.

5. Volunteering. Sometimes at a food bank to feed the homeless, and sometimes helping a local group who was in charge of restoration of a creek which required cleaning/tree planting etc. It's amazing what doing something for others does for yourself.

Things will get better for you - no doubt!

Convert iMac to work as external display, get a Mac Mini -> Win

I've been holding off as there are no resellers in New Zealand, but I might take the risk of lack of warranty and support and buy it from AliExpress....

Imagine putting on some glasses for virtual display and iPhone going into desktop mode...

That'd be the dream

Maybe it's just my age, or bias driven by nostalgia, but I'm not a huge fan of recent Pokemon production - I feel the Pokemon creations themselves feel quite forced. But thinking back to Red/Blue days, and the OG Pokemon, that will always bring back good memories and nostalgia.

Pretty sure gen 1 is inherently better IP and it's not a nostalgia thing. The only Pokemon I played was half of Crystal on a jailbroken iPhone as a kid.

I'm hyped for a iPhone Fold as a concept.

But the leaks I've seen of the size, makes me less excited about it. The phone when folded looks a bit wider and squatter than my Pro Max. And when open, it's smaller than my 11" iPad.

I see the promise of this concept with the tri-fold phones, where when expanded is closer in size to an 11" tablet.

Yeah, that Galaxy tri-fold is gonna be the sweet spot.

I wonder if something like that is in the works, given touch screen capability coming to Macs, and Tahoe being geared for touch UX...

I mean we can always wish but I think Thi’s has been the major gripe for a number of years. They could run macOS today in an iPad. Alternatively they could at the very least copy some of the basic workflows in iOS but it’s just different enough that even with a keyboard the iPad feels off compared to a Mac.
