Yes, I dipped my toe in recently. Because the market has been a bull over the last few months, I have made money. Yet, I worry that my success gives me false confidence in I know what I'm doing. I also devote time to just watching the numbers. And, like watching twitter, I recognize it's not very healthy or constructive.

My approach is closest to technical analysis, swing trading, and the CANSLIM method: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CANSLIM

Does anyone else question Zynga's growth model? http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2012/03/21/welcome-to-...

For iPhone users, all app notifications can be changed, except sadly for the App Store. For me, the only pesky red badge that remains on my screen is that of the App Store. And the fact that a few of my apps need to be updated is something I don't want to be notified about.

Personally, I think the pendulum will eventually swing back as users get tired and frustrated with all these services vying for their attention.

This is one of the biggest differences I'm finding going from iOS to Android -- Apple slipped in the "enable notifications" the first time you run an app and I never thought twice about it.. like a lot of things I've used.

On the whole though I'm finding Android to be an interesting environment where I can hopefully get more things running how I would like.

Some are calling this the future of interfaces. As a designer, I'm curious as to how you would prototype these interactions. Are there tools out there that could do this? Seems to me you need to have out of this world design and development skills to bring this from idea to app.

I really can't immagine that hidden non-standard gestures ever becoming the future of interfaces. Its beautiful, but wtf how am I supposed to remember how to use it?

Once you think of the concept, it's pretty easy to make some demos to get an idea of how they would feel. I use Flash with a mix of keyframe animations and actionscripted animations and interactions. Sure, you can only really us it in the browser, but it still lets you try out the concept. Also great for demoing to developers (assuming that's how your company is structured).

Has anyone read anything on Zach Klein's cabin in NY? Very curious how he went about designing and building it. http://beaverbrook.com/

I used a similar visual concept to produce the following: http://www.behance.net/gallery/Impossible-Triangle/1968627

However, I chose to manually use random numbers so it wasn't exactly quick. I wonder if there's a way I could have hooked Photoshop up to do that.

Poignant. Though it's hard to finish reading some of the longer messages before the stream moves down.

Looking through the source, there's code to pause the stream onhover, but it's turned off.

Considering Steve's Zen Buddhism, it strikes me as a poetic tribute; a silent reminder to let go.

"The meditator strives to be aware of the stream of thoughts, allowing them to arise and pass away without interference."

"Be less busy. Seriously, we’re too busy these days. Cut back on commitments, put space between things, allow yourself to have a slower pace. Your energy levels will thank you."

I think the key here is not to fill the "space" with directionless Internet/Twitter/Hacker News perusing. Easier said than done.

I was just going to comment on that exact quote. Sounds like a rallying cry for the Coddled Generation.

Personal edit: "Act like you know what you're doing; most people are just winging it anyway."
