I made this game with my artist friend Tibo. We teamed up with Nerdle, who was looking for something more visual then the typical math game.

The hardest part so far has been phrasing the questions to reduce misunderstanding. For example, I used to write "How many hockey pucks would you have to stack up to reach the top of the Eiffel tower", but it was unclear how the puck was oriented.

The second hardest part has been finding items that people all over the world are familiar with, and that don't vary too much size.

I hope you like it! Comments and criticisms are welcome.

PS: Sorry for the ads

Happy Pi Day! We made 3 levels of trivia all about famous numbers and the mathematicians who discovered them.

Let me know what you think!

This a weekly quiz game I'm developing. It's made with a custom game framework, using virtual DOM and a lot of SVG graphics behind the scenes.

There are some really interesting ideas here. I love how scoping works and is integrated with the other parts of the framework.

This is a great feedback and I'm sure that this conversation and some of the frustration around will help us get even better.

Ok good idea !

I didn’t know that game. That’s a cool concept!

Oooh that is a good idea. I should try that

Yeah I think it's just too easy! After you do that, wrap it up into a native mobile app wrapper and put it on the app and play store. I think you would have greater success marketing there.

The android version is done already! Though still in beta…

Nice, is it using a WebView? How did you build it?

Yup, that's right. I looked at a bunch of solutions and chose Cordova- it's kinda old tech these days, but still works quite well for what I need.

Thanks! Those are thanks to my art director, he does amazing work

Hello hackers, I’m really proud to announce that we’re launching Blockchain Battle, an online class to learn the fundamentals of blockchain and cryptocurrency in a fun and engaging way.

Our goal is to get help the general public understand important topics in science in technology through games.

This project started as a game that we showed at a few festivals in France. But we found a bunch interesting questions that we couldn’t address in the game. We decided that it would be fun to record videos to answer those questions, and then assemble them into an online class.

In the class, we ping-pong between levels of the game and the new videos, to get the best of both worlds. Here’s the trailer to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about:

I'd love any feedback you might have!

Best, Jesse

PS: As a Hacker News reader, you might know this stuff already. But the goal is to help non-tech people get a grasp of how it works...
