> "Maximizing societal value may mean moving industry to places where the government is less of an impediment to efficient value creation."

Sure. Because after all, China is a paragon of good government.

It's a fallacy to say that people are either illegal downloaders or not. There's a large segment of the population that won't download media illegally if they feel that they're being well served by the marketplace. If on the other hand, the industry conspires to limit consumer options out of greed and stupidity, that same segment of the population will feel that it has a right to seek redress, and won't feel bad about illegal downloads.

I enjoy actually Atwood's writing sometimes, but why does he have to randomly put some of his sentences in boldface?

Search this site, someone posted an anti-atwood greasemonkey script that removes the semi-random bolding.

Because we're all afflicted with terrible ADD after years of internet usage. We need short paragraphs with key sentences bolded and big colorful images in-between to keep our attention.

Truth, according to the law, is a complete defense against slander. With that in mind: Dvorak is a moron.

Seems like a bit of a toss-up, really.

Hacker News is really not the right place for a serious conversation on this topic, and jokes would only lead to a flame war, so I will rather abstain.
