Apple has become a wanna be political participant, so priorities changed.

The site looks horrible in dark theme of multiple android browsers I tried, so I'll have to search for a TL;DR somewhere

Why couldn't a "code specialized" LLM/AI be added to the change flow, in the cloudflare process, and asked to check against all known implementations of name resolution stubs, dns clients, etc., etc. If not in such cases, then when?

I'm in violent agreement with you! Don't even know what I would have done without OCLP on my older systems, still running circles (in reliability) around other non Apple similar devices. And - for the record - I hate iPhones, as well as what Apple is doing with its OS lately.

I always wondered if they'd be of any use as multimedia server, with local content deliver and an USB device hanging out of it, for unused libraries...

> "AI isn't doing things, people and corporations are..."

Where have I heard a similar reasoning? Maybe about guns in the US???

Guns can and are used to murder people directly in the physical world.

The overwhelming (perhaps complete) use of generative AI is not to murder people. It's to generate text/photo/video/audio.

Generative AI is used to defraud people, to propagandize them, to steal their intellectual property and livelihoods, to systematically deny their health insurance claims, to dangerously misinform them (e.g. illegitimate legal advice or hallucinated mushroom identification ebooks), to drive people to mental health breakdowns via "ai psychosis" and much more. The harm is real and material, and right now is causing unemployment, physical harm, imprisonment, and in some cases death.

I was too young, too naive, and/or too ignorant to know the Internet would do those things. I would argue a majority of us were.

AI is _very_ clearly going to lead to a lot of negative outcomes, and I am no longer too young, naive, and ignorant about it.

"X thing was bad and has remained unsolved. Exponentially making X worse is therefore okay, as long as it helps me open 20 PRs per day."

Interesting. For me running it in multiple online compilers gets consistently the following output:

1 1= 1 2 2= 4 3 3= 9 4 4= 16 5 5= 25 6 6= 36 7 7= 49 8 8= 64 9 9= 81 10 10= 100

I ran it here using my phone:

https://www.jdoodle.com/c-online-compiler

I copied and pasted the code from GitHub (click copy, rather than highlighting and copying).

It ran but also outputted the number sequence a few times.

It is possible when you did copy n paste the special characters were lost.

The road to automation is always full of outages.

Pinker's tweet is how I actually ended up reading the article, then searching on HN for a possible related post. I read Sacks' major books, and I was always surprised by what I thought being his talent to romanticize real life. I guess it was too good to be (completely) true, after all :(
