HD6XX was too harsh in the highs for me. I think HD600s are tuned ever so slightly better.

Also base DACs from a MBP M1 (max) were fine to drive it for me. Both HD600/XX

I’m sure it’s driving issue, 650/6XX’s treble is supposed to be smooth and veiled. I wouldn’t consider the HD6 series at all if you only have an unbalanced setup, the difference on my DAC is night and day.

Wireless:

- Top tier general: sennheiser Hbd 630

- good enough: sennheiser momentum 4 (affordable)

- good ANC and “bassy”: Sony xm5/xm6 (‘muddy’ for some)

- I like the Bose ANC profile: Bose QC2

All of them have bad microphones (worse than wired ear pods)

All of them have good to great ANC

All of them are wireless

If you need a good mic then get dedicated headset for calls. Otherwise settle for “ok”

I didn’t include bathys/marklevin cause the new senn 630 outplay them on all fronts.

Bowers & Wilkins PX8 S2 can be included also as top tier general + audiophile sound quality (‘musical’) + premium build and materials.

Yeah this is why people just buy AirPods Max.

4 clicks from control centre on stock settings. Two if you add the Bluetooth widget into control centre. Swipe down control centre > Bluetooth > hey presto

As for ATV, yeah that thing is deep

'Plenty' vs an atrocious amount that constantly nags.

MacOS's ads whilst I still detest, is a one-off prompt. Window's ads can sometimes only be removed with registry key configs OR deployment of management policies...

I don't see any ads on my retail Pro install.

Nagging for OneDrive? Nagging for sign in? Nagging for edge-as-default? Nagging for copilot with edge? Nagging for sync your bookmarks and let copilot handle it?

I’m a local account user. I don’t use any of the above.

Just wait til she jumps on a windows 11 device!

But I do agree with you. Thankfully it is minimal relative to windows.

First thing I do with a Win 11 install is ask Copilot how to turn all the crap off. ;-)

2nd thing to do is install and dual boot linux :D

Just install Windows IoT LTSC. Zero ads.

Tell that to your mum /. Family member who’s remote. Let me know how that goes

Base m4 Mac mini. Only beach balling is when I saturate 16GB with compiles and builds. That thing of yours is a lemon.

Lemons do happen with Apple Silicon.

I had a Mac Studio that would kernel panic on a semi-weekly basis. Apple Care put me through the reinstall OS / remove all external devices tap-dance for weeks, insisting that hardware was the last thing to suspect - before Apple Silicon, kernel panics were almost always hardware, particularly RAM.

Ultimately I bought another Studio and swapped it in - kernel panics went away. With that evidence, Apple acknowledged the problem and exchanged my Studio for another one from the factory. I returned the swap unit within the 30 day window, so it didn't cost me anything but annoyance.

Needing to shell out... what? 2000 bucks to prove Apple Support they were wrong seems a very, very bad sign for that Support. Even if you got them back.

Selfh.st writer said this guy was the dev for Huntarr repo crash out.

Obsidian is amazing on my desktop environments but I shared the same sentiment with you, on mobile I use Apple Notes and transpose to Obsidian if its worth doing so...

Similar to mine. I use Apple Notes for quick, ephemeral notes and for Shared Family Notes. If they are the ones that are more important, they go into the plain-text notes in the Obsidian folder.

The Notes folder(s) is sync with a Cloud Service. So, I use iA Writer[1] (a brilliant Notes App) to have a pleasant writing experience on other mobile devices. They are just Markdown, so I can open them in any Notes App that supports Markdown. I paid for iA Writer once, like 10+ years ago.

I like the desktop app, but the android app is such ass. It's bad enough that I wonder why they even bother.

Would matmul acceleration in m5 do much to improve token Generation? I’m planning to upgrade when the new studio updates to m5 but if it’s not much of a shift I’ll probably look at a second hand 256+ ram m3 studio.

Edit: of course the software would need to leverage the neural accelerators which is another variable if the software supports it in the first place

Have you tried Kagi?
