IPv6 has been around since the mid-late 90s, it’s an incredibly slow migration as a lot of things were just not thought through. Yes the switch will eventually happen, but we’re already talking decades, which is a lot of time to unlock a few IPv4 subnets while we wait.


The alternative take is that it’s an incredibly slow migration because we keep unlocking a few IPv4 subnets so we can wait a little longer.
