Personally, I was never more motivated to learn about computers than when I would look through Kim Schmitz's (aka Kimble) photo galleries online. I think anyone who visited that site as a pubescent boy will understand what I'm talking about.
For those of you who don't remember him, Kimble was a flamboyant, very (temporarily) wealthy, German hacker whose life consisted of buying exotic cars, hanging out with models, and traveling all over the world. Also, um, there was something about insider trading (but that's hardly inspirational).

Childhood inspiration for a startup? I was just happy to be learning English and didn't have a computer until I was 14.
