I wonder to what degree southern US charismatic christianity owes its peculiarities (glossolalia, etc.) to proximity to whatever practices predated vodoun?

Also, the Russian version of glossolalia, if it existed/exists in Russian-America, would be interesting/also-relevant, weren't they a minor splinter of the great Schism/some spending a lot of time east of the Urals?
