Americans will use anything but the metric system…


Except that they're using "penguins" for "meters", since the emperor penguin can be about 1 meter long.

And it's the Jerusalem Post, so it's a bit unfair to say "Americans". (Maybe they're trying to write for an American audience...)


People will do ANYthing to avoid using metric.


OTOH when the penguins get too numerous to count, you know the potential for disaster is really getting out-of-hand.


There is a big difference between an Emperor penguin and a Galapagos penguin. They should of used a different measure.
