I learned more about my town's history by playing Ingress for a week than in 5 years of living here.

There was quite a stir in the ingress community last weekend because there was a sort of "launch event" in Montreal for the iOS app, but the app was not released yet.. Good to see it's here at last.

And a lot of data coming from foot and bike that Maps wouldn't provide. I also wondered about submission of POIs though in my experience the portals (POIs) in game are a mixed bag of traditional POIs and more liberally defined POIs, e.g. graffiti, sculptures, small memorials.

has anyone seen Ingress sourced data show up in Google Maps? Is it already happening or is it only a matter of time? What would be most useful?

Really neat game. It's made with LibGDX, so I figured it was only a matter of time before it ended up on iOS too.
