Absolutely don’t pursue a stolen vehicle with an AirTag. I had a moto buddy whose bike got stolen in Manhattan. Same story, he called police, but they were too busy doing more important things. Long story short, he follows the bike up to the Bronx, confronts the thieves, and they beat his ass and rob him a g a I n. A block away from a police station.

Not worth it. Just insure the shit out of it and move on.

It’s actually really simple. They just aren’t very sophisticated.

I spent a long many years working in the call center industry and the people who head these up are not exactly FAANG engineers.

Just imagine a company where all tracking is done on shared spreadsheets and there is maybe one technical resource that operates the dialer. Now factor in millions of calls a day and it’s easy to see how a lot stuff just doesn’t make it up the priority list.

I worked for a company that did their main marketing by cold calling office lines in Manhattan. They would make about 1 million dials a day, maybe 5% answer, transfer 2-3% of those to a closer, and close maybe 5% of those. Whole thing running on Google sheets.

While that’s happening, they are accidentally hitting law offices, hospitals, schools, and other egregious violations (both legal and otherwise) that are taking up their very limited time and attention. I remember one period where they kept dialing the literal procedure rooms in hospitals - often the same one.

So, yeah, your phone call is probably just getting marked “No Sale” and that’s that.

Jira Data Center is an unbelievably powerful tool.

It suffers from unknowledgable administrators.

If you have a person who is running Jira Data Center that is familiar with its internal classes, API, Scriptrunner, Automation for Jira, and the enormous 3rd party plug-in environment, there is simply no comparison. It’s not even close.

To be fair, that’s a pretty big ask, in terms of technical know-how and cost. Even just base Jira is quite complicated to configure well.

This is the first of these kinds of products that supports customer portal as a use case. In my opinion, this a HUGE differentiator from the rest of the retool/appsmith type tools and surprised no one has mentioned it yet.

I use retool as a client-facing frontend for a niche data ETL product and I’m getting killed on their enterprise pricing.
